Both the Omaha North Vikings Girls & Boys Swim teams opened the 2018-19 season with 2nd place finishes among the six teams competing at the 8th annual Benson SWIMvite on December 1.
Twelve girls swimmers scored points for the Vikings. Vienne Kemper led the girls with victories in two individual events, hitting a secondary state qualifying time in the 200 Freestyle and an automatic state qualifying time in the 100 Butterfly. Kemper also was on the 1st place 400 Freestyle Relay and 2nd place Medley Relay, teaming on both with Ann Fox, Julienne Kemper and Lauren Sitzman. Teresa Gibbons, Emily Quackenbush, Eleana Conyers-Gaines and Emma Craig teamed for a 2nd place finish in the 200 Freestyle Relay.
The Vikings boys had eleven swimmers earn points for the team. Liam Murray won two individual events, earning secondary state qualifying times in the 100 Backstroke and 50 Freestyle. Davion Scott-Bell placed 1st in the 100 Breaststroke. Murray and Scott-Bell teamed with Dominick Bartles and Nate Schlader to finish 2nd in the 400 Freestyle Relay.
The Vikings compete next in a dual meet at Omaha Bryan on Tuesday, December 4.
The Vikings boys will return to Omaha Bryan on Wednesday night for the Omaha Bryan Invitational. The Vikings girls swim at the Omaha Bryan Invitational on Saturday morning.
