Swim coach Sean Froemming was named Metro High School Activities Association Swim Coach of the Year for 2020-21. Froemming, in his seventh season leading the Vikings, assisted the past four years by Greg Faber, guided the boys’ team to its best finish at the conference meet since 2001. This year’s team features four individuals who achieved automatic qualifying times for the NSAA State Swim and Diving Championships, including school records in two individual events and two relays. The girls’ team expects to qualify at least four state events this year, based on secondary qualifying times.
The 2020-21 boys’ team won five invitational meets during the season. Froemming’s swimmers hold six school records and, in most other events for both girls’ and boys’, are the fastest times at the school since the Vikings’ team records were set by high school All-Americans in the 1990’s and early 2000’s.
