Vikings News · Vikings Split Dual With Dragons To Start Season

The Viking Swim teams opened the 2020-21 season hosting Gretna High School on December 2, 2020.

The Vikings boys’ team outpointed the Dragons 125 to 59.  The Dragons won the girls’ meet 118 to 51.  The Vikings’ boys swept the three relays while the Vikings’ girls won the 400 Freestyle Relay.

With six boys and two girls returning who have qualified as individuals for past NSAA State Championships, the Vikings opened with a mix of veterans and newcomers winning events:

Nate Schlader: 100 Freestyle & 100 Backstroke

Davion Scott-Bell: 200 Freestyle & 100 Butterfly

Richard Throckmorton: 100 Breaststroke

Ben Mills: 50 Freestyle

Noah Richardson: 500 Freestyle

Teresa Gibbons: 100 Butterfly

Lauren Sitzman: 200 Freestyle

Cancellations of two invitationals this month have led to scheduling adjustments for the coming weeks.  Prior to winter break, the team currently has one invitational, the Benson Invite at Monroe Middle School.  The girls are scheduled to swim Saturday, December 4, with the boys set to compete the following Saturday, December 11.
