The Vikings swim team competed at the 38th annual Lewis Central Invitational on Saturday, January 23, among the 320 total swimmers from 11 boys’ teams from Nebraska and Iowa and 7 girls’ teams from Nebraska.
Many Vikings posted career best times in individual events. Junior Richard Throckmorton earned a secondary state cut for the first time in his career, touching the wall under the required time in the 100 Breaststroke while finishing 5th. Sophomore Davion Scott-Bell led off the 400 Freestyle Relay with a 100 split that earned him a secondary cut in his third event this year. Other individuals posting career best times were Tina Mora (50 Freestyle & 100 Freestyle), Yasmine Alhejaj (50 Freestyle), Lawrence Williams (50 Freestyle & 100 Freestyle), Trevor Gibbons (50 Freestyle & 100 Backstroke), Vivian Landis (100 Freestyle & 100 Breaststroke), Zach Alhejaj (100 Freestyle), Darden Tetley (100 Freestyle), John Dawes (100 Freestyle), and Seamus Cavanaugh (100 Freestyle & 100 Breaststroke).

The Vikings host their final dual meet of the year this coming Tuesday when Gretna visits the McMillan pool at 5:00 p.m. Next Saturday, the boys’ and girls’ teams swim at Brownell Talbot, with the boys seeking to defend their 2019 Boys’ title at the BTCMR Invitational.
