The Vikings competed against many of the state’s top high school swim teams on Saturday, December 21 at the 35th annual Lincoln Southeast Knight Invitational.  The 18-team meet featured eight of the state’s pre-season Top 10 boys teams and seven of girls’ Top 10 teams.

Lauren Sitzman led the Vikings by placing 9th in the 200 Freestyle and 10th in the 100 Backstroke.  AJ Fox obtained her first state secondary qualifying time of the season in the 50 Freestyle.  Nathan Schlader expanded his secondary qualifying repertoire to include the 100 Backstroke.  The Boys’ 200 Freestyle Relay also obtained a secondary qualifying time, while the Girls’ 200 Freestyle Relay jumped closer to reaching the secondary time.  Davion Scott-Bell and Richard Throckmorton both contributed points to the team total in the 100 Breaststroke.

In team scores, the girls placed 14th and the boys finished in 15th place in what was billed as “the final meet of the decade.”

After the state’s practice moratorium, the Vikings will resume training during winter break.  The second month of the season starts will a busy week of competition: Tuesday, January 8 hosting Omaha South (McMillan Magnet pool); Thursday, January 10 at Omaha Central (Norris Middle School pool); and Saturday, January 12 at Brownell Talbot’s Theisen Pool for the BTCMR Relays.
