VIKINGS SWIMMERS QUALIFY FOR STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS
For the first time in a decade, the Vikings qualified individuals and relay teams from both the boys’ and girls’ swimming teams for the Nebraska Schools Activities Association State Swimming Championships. The preliminaries and championship races will be held Friday and Saturday, February 23-24, at the Bob Devaney Sports Center in Lincoln. Leading the Vikings girls is Vienne Kemper, who will compete in the maximum of two individual events (100 Butterfly and 200 Individual Medley) and two freestyle relays. Liam Murray competes in the boys’ 50 Freestyle, 100 Freestyle and two freestyle relays.
Joining Vienne on the girls’ relays in the morning session on Friday, are Anna Kay Sitzman, Julienne Kemper, Ann Fox, Natalie Hausman, and Shylee Armstrong. Liam will team with Lee Yoder, Nick Hausman, Dominick Bartles, Nate Schlader, and Tyler Stone for the boys’ preliminaries in the afternoon. The top 12 individuals in each event and top 12 for each relay advance to compete on Saturday.
All sessions are sold out. Finals and consolation finals on Saturday will be broadcast live by NET.
